+  Straight from GreenBuild 2011 -> USGBC - Center for Green Schools

The Center for Green Schools from U.S. Green Building Council on Vimeo

As a member of the USGBC, and a provider of (Energy Solutions) to school districts throughout southern Idaho, Oregon and SW Washington, Clima-Tech encourages partnership with the USGBC's Center for Green Schools. The goal of the center is to help educational facilities attain energy efficiency, improved learning opportunities, and to education the future leaders of our world in the importance of sustainability.
The Center for Green Schools at USGBC is helping to engage educators in creating sustainable learning environments for their students and apply solid research to inform leadership—from school boards to college presidents—about the benefits of healthy, high-performing schools. We are working with state and local governments to draft smart, practical policies, and we provide trainings and helpful resources to those who need it most—K-12 schools serving lower-income families, under-resourced institutions and community colleges. The Center serves to convene conversations with key decision makers, collaborate with leading education and environmental associations and create tools and resources that help make green schools possible.

Habitat for Humanity - 48th Street Project Habitat-photo

On a recent Spring day in Boise, the team from Clima-Tech heard the call and responded with a crew of eager hands and feet. Giving back in the best way we know how, using our experience in installing HVAC mechanical systems and our helping hearts. We feel it is a privilege to be able to partner with a Boise family in creating a home; giving a hand up and a help out.

+  Banner Bank as a Living Case Study

The download is now available for the presentation where Clima-Tech's own Darwin Roy along with Christensen Corporation's Mike Murninghan, and IDL's Brad Acker shared the stage on the November 4, 2010 Integrated Design Lab's Energy Efficiency Fall Series. The topic of discussion was "A Living Case Study on Continuous Improvement of Energy Performance at the Banner Bank Building." This session documented the results of a continuous improvement process for optimizing energy performance at the LEED Platinum Banner Bank Building in Boise. Specifically, it highlighted three critical perspectives:

1) the commissioning agent and controls contractor
2) the building operator
3) the building owner.

+  11/01/2010 - BACnet to the Rescue

In the November 2010 issue of the ASHRAE Journal, Automated Logic Northwest Regional Manager, Larry Bacher discusses how Clima-Tech helped the Christensen Corporation in a BACnet integration between the existing direct digital controls and WebCTRL installed by Clima-Tech. This integration at the LEED Platinum Banner Bank Building allowed the project to be completed as designed and achieve the energy efficiencies anticipated.

"Where BACnet came to the rescue for this project was the ability to provide an open platform allowing outside contractors and suppliers to support, with their specialized expertise, a solution that worked for the unique needs of this innovative facility. If locked into a proprietary system, as provided years ago, the project might have gone well. But the ability to arrive at a best solution, with the features required for this type of facility, would have been limited. BACnet opened the options and ideas for a successful project."
